Netflix’s Money Heist confirmed to have a Korean Adaptation!

The Heist is coming to Korea!

Netflix announced on December 1, that the Spanish Netflix series, La Casa de Papel, popularly known as Money Heist will have its own Korean adaptation.

The upcoming series will be directed by Kim Hong-sun who worked on The Guest, Voice and Black. He became a house name for being able to present different fantasy crime genres.

On the other hand, Ryu Yong-jae will be the screenwriter along with his team. Yong-jae previously wrote Netflix’ My Holo Love and tvN’s Psycopath Diary.

According to Alex Pina, the Creator and Executive Producer of Money Heist, Korean creators have been developing their own language and audiovisual culture for years. Pina also expressed his admiration on how the Korean series was able to go beyond cultural borders and become a point of reference for the viewers all around the world.

Pina said, “That is why I find it fascinating that the world of La casa de papel is so attractive to Korean creators as to do an adaptation. The fact that the action is set on the Korean Peninsula also seems to me to be a milestone which I am really delighted about.”

Money Heist which initially aired last 2017, is currently on its way for their final season.
