[BREAKING] Kim Soo Hyun and 2PM’s Taecyeon are promoted as Sergeant

Their promotions are (un)expected!

On March 4, Herald Pop news reported that actor Kim Soo Hyun and 2PM’s Ok Taecyeon were promoted as Sergeants. Both stars are serving their country well.

According to the Army’s regulations, soldiers eligible for this type of early promotion are the ones who had an outstanding performance. Early promotions are only given to the top 10% of all the soldiers in service. However, the said promotions do not affect their days inside the army. Promotions like these are said to boost the soldiers’ morale and encourage them more.

Kim Soo Hyun enlisted last October 23, 2017 and is under the Army’s search and rescue team. He is set to discharge from the army this July 1, 2019.

Ok Taecyeon was exempted for military service at first for holding a US citizenship, but he revoked it in order to enlist. He started his service last September 4, 2017 as an assistant at the boot camp of the 9th Infantry Division. He is set to discharge this May 16, 2019.
