Director Sakveerakul embarks on his most ambitious project, “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide”
Spanning a career of twenty years, director Chookiat “Matthew” Sakveerakul is back with his most ambitious film yet with the sci-fi epic, “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide.”

Throughout his career, Sakveerakul has made films that are considered Thai cinema milestones. In 2007, his romance film “The Love of Siam,” dominated all local film events in the same year and, bagged the Best Film awards in every major competition.
Sci-fi has always interested him and he states that they’re as mysterious as ghost stories. This interest influenced his pivot into the realm of sci-fi with “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide.” The film revolves around the ‘Taklee Genesis,’ an American experiment project. The name came from the Taklee district, the largest US base in Southeast Asia at the time.

The casting choices were integral to the story of “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide,” with Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, War Wanarat leading the film. He explains that he would like to work with Paula again because of her strong cinematic charisma and her rom-com experience. He also shares Peter’s enthusiasm for the world of “Taklee Genesis” as well, and even contributed to the script.
Finally, Sakveerakul hopes that “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide” will be a door that opens opportunities for more sci-fi and challenging film projects.
