(G)I-DLE’s Yuqi debuts as a soloist with mini-album “YUQ1”
On April 23, (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi released her 1st mini-album “YUQ1,” marking her debut as a solo artist.

The mini-album “YUQ1” expresses Yuqi’s self and represents her free-spirited and intricate artistry. Replacing the letter ‘I’ with the number ‘1’ signifies how Yuqi takes pride in her solo debut.

The title track “Freak” showcases Yuqi’s strong vocals with a band sound and full English lyrics. It conveys the message of having self-confidence while recognizing one’s differences from others and being proud of showing one’s own uniqueness.
Last April 5, Yuqi unveiled “Could It Be” as a pre-release track, raising expectations for her 1st mini-album.
Overall, the mini-album consists of 7 tracks including: “My Way,” “Red Rover,” “On Clap” featuring Chinese singer Lexie Liu, “Drink It Up” featuring Korean rapper pH-1, and “Everytime” featuring fellow (G)I-DLE member Minnie. These collaborations with various artists show that Yuqi’s musicality goes befits diverse genres.
