K-pop group iKON has left its music label YG Entertainment after seven years of an exclusive contract.

YG Entertainment released a statement on Friday, December 30, reporting the exit of the group.
The label said that after a lengthy discussion with the members of the group, YG Entertainment said, “[w]e agreed to end our exclusive contract following the expiration of their contract period,” in respect for one another’s points of view.
iKON—composed of Jay, Bobby, Song, Ju-ne, DK, and Chan—will continue to do activities as a group in the future, despite exiting their label.
They will also continue to utilize their social media accounts, including their Weverse account, to communicate with iKONIC, their fans.
“We sincerely thank iKON, who has been with us as one of our agency’s artists up until now. We are looking forward to their future activities in a wide variety of fields, and we will be cheering them on,” the label said in their translated statement.
iKON has been with YG Entertainment since 2015. Their former member, B.I, departed from the group in 2019. He is now a solo artist under 131 Label and IOK M.
