On February 8, YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun-suk continued his blog post with his plan for Blackpink.

He answered the question ‘When will he release a new set of songs for Blackpink?’. He stated that they are expecting to release a new extended play(EP) by mid or late March that will contain new tracks.

The EP will be their next release after their Korean debut EP ‘Square Up’ with the title song, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ which was released last June 2018.

He also shared that they are planning for Rosé’s solo debut after the EP release in March. She will be the second member to have a solo debut. In line with this, Lisa and Jisoo will also have their solo debut after Rosé.

Moreover, YG discussed his plans and insights about BLACKPINK’s US promotions. He wrote “Starting with BLACKPINK’s upcoming performance at the main stage of Coachella on April 12 and 19, the group is planning to go on a North America and Europe tour for a couple of months. BLACKPINK is expected to promote themselves not only on some well-known TV shows but also on radio, magazines, and newspapers. Since three of the members can speak English, we are hoping that a more varied and active promotion will be possible.”

He added, “This is only my personal and subjective analysis. There are only a few popular girl groups in the US and Europe for the past decades, as the last group I remember is ‘Spice Girls’, the 5-member girl group that made debut back in 1996. It is probably because not many girl groups made debut itself, due to the cultural system. Therefore, I am hoping and expecting that the US and European market will be a blue ocean for BLACKPINK. These expectations came from the data analysis on BLACKPINK.”

YG said that he will be back again on Monday with the news on the upcoming releases of his agency’s other artists including WINNER and iKON.
