According to the statement of his agency, Woollim Entertainment, the idol is now on his last leave and he will not return to the troops base but will remain status until original release date, in line with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) protocol.
As said, this is The Ministry of National Defense’s new policy during the pandemic which aims to prevent the spread of the virus inside the army.
The discharge news of the idol surprised the fans as he was originally scheduled to be released on October 27.
Back in March 21, 2019, Lee Sungyeol also surprised his fans especially Inspirits with the sudden announcement of his military enlistment five days later.
He was the second member of the South Korean boy group to enlist and the second to be released as well, following their leader, Kim Sunggyu.
The only member left to enter the army is Kim Myungsoo, who is currently working on his upcoming drama.
