Nee Sensei, Shiranai No? (Hey Teacher, Don’t You Know?) is a 2019 romantic Japanese drama about a manga artist and a charismatic beautician. It is adapted from the manga with the same title.

Plot summary

Aoi Hana (Baba Fumika) is a romance manga artist who is also inexperienced with love. Kido Riichi (Akaso Eiji) is a charismatic hairstylist who can’t seem to maintain relationships with his past girlfriends. The two fall in love after meeting in Riichi’s workplace, the salon. They then learn how to balance their dream career and relationship.

Sense of Reality

The story presents a premise that both leads are career-driven. This gives us a sense of reality that aside from finding love, it is also important to pursue our dreams.

Perfect Boyfriend

Riichi seems to be the perfect boyfriend of every girl’s dream. He understands Hana’s priorities and respects her decisions.

Cons (-)

Too short

The drama might seem too short for 6 episodes. One reason could be because the manga is still ongoing. Given the available material, the ending couldn’t have had a better conclusion.

Supporting Characters

With regard to the length of the drama, the supporting characters lacked their own stories. They barely made an impact on the main leads’ story. It was unfortunate but they had to work with a concise storyline.
